The issue on which reporters sought my comment concerned a City of Toronto ban on plastic bags. Some say I am a natural interviewee on this topic. In 2006, I moved that council support an initiative asking the provincial government to impose a fee on plastic shopping bags.
The motion passed narrowly and then went nowhere with the provincial government. I, however, still have friends who praise me because they feel I was forward thinking and ahead of the times.
I hate to disappoint these people. It gnaws at me, actually. I hope, though, they can see some logic in how I am thinking about this topic now. City hall just announced that our curbside recycling now accepts plastic bags. This is an initiative over which City Hall has complete control and it goes a long way to addressing the main problem.
So,[url=http://www.insanityworkouts-calendar@#$%&/]insanity[/url], I am not so sure I would jump all over a plastic bag fee anymore. I even less certain I would support a ban. I think we can get to the same place without causing as much concern.
I also wonder whether there are other significant environmental measures that would have a more positive impact. Anyone want to talk about taking lanes away from cars and giving them to bikes,[url=http://www.louis-vuittonhandbags.co.uk/]louis @#$%& handbags[/url], buses, and self powered humanoids? There, perhaps, is an issue through which I would be more willing to struggle.
