Accommodation and transportation arrangements are almost in place for CARIFESTA as the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport along with the Ministry of Tourism continues to prepare to host the mega event.Fifty hotels around the country have been certified and 3,000 rooms already secured.Speaking with Kaieteur News yesterday, Minister of Tourism, Manniram Prashad said that 573 of the expected 1,500 delegates have already booked their own accommodation. He added that this was mainly facilitated through online advertisement.According to the Minister, this shows that delegates are interested in organizing themselves even before they arrive in Guyana.At present, the Minister said, the Bed and Breakfast programme is being reactivated.?If everything continues as it is going we will find that we will need other areas for accommodation?some of the hotels may be forced to install double beds?and we are thinking about accommodating people in places like Cyril Potter College of Education and YMCA,? Minister Prashad said.Local participants coming from out of town, he said, will be accommodated in various locations.Minister Prashad noted that the Bed and Breakfast accommodations that have been made available already can accommodate at least 100 persons.?We are hoping to carry that much higher but that would be dependent on the response we get.
