A Central Rupununi man who took a cab ride from Georgetown to Parika was remanded yesterday because he couldn?t pay the $5,000 fare.Antonio Julius Rodriguez,NFL Jerseys Supply, 43,Jerseys NFL China, who lives in Central Rupununi,China NFL Jerseys, took the taxi from Bourda Market,Wholesale Jerseys, on Regent Street to Parika alone on April 13.But when he arrived in Parika,China Jerseys, police said Rodriguez told the taxi driver, Collin Munroe,Cheap NFL Jerseys, that he couldn?t pay the fee until he gets his gold sold. Police said Munroe waited, and after some time he left his vehicle to go look for the man but Rodriquez was nowhere to be found.Rodriguez pleaded guilty to theft of services yesterday when he appeared before Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates? Court.According to prosecutor Corporal Seon Blackman, Munroe found Rodriguez about three weeks after the incident at the same market where they first met. The prosecutor said the taxi driver was working when he saw the defendant in the market area and he approached him and took him to the city?s outpost. After the allegation was put to him, the prosecutor said Rodriguez was arrested and charged. When the magistrate asked him if he had the money to compensate the taxi driver he said he had none. ?I?m in no position to pay any money right now?? the defendant said.He later claimed that his daughter is currently in surgery and he gave all of his money to cover the expenses. The man who said he never had to appear in court stood and said that he did intend to go sell the gold. He added that he went to ask for money from someone he knew to pay the fare but no one helped him.The magistrate then remanded him to prison until the following day when she will make her verdict. Rodriguez will appear in court again today.
