Bill seeks to levy tariffs on imported sleeping bags,[url=http://www.nikeairmaxe.co.uk/]@#$%& air max[/url]
Rep. Robert Aderholt,[url=http://www.doudoune--moncler.fr/]moncler[/url], R Haleyville,[url=http://www.juicycoutureoutlet-handbags@#$%&/]juicy couture[/url], late Thursday submitted a bill that seeks to levy tariffs on imported sleeping bags that are entering the country duty free thanks to what critics call a legislative loophole.
Aderholt's office said the bill is intended to aid Haleyville's Exxel Outdoors,[url=http://www.lunetterayban-pas-cher.fr/]@#$%&[/url], which makes inexpensive sleeping bags and says it is being deluged with cheap imports from Bangladesh. The imports,[url=http://www.hermesbirkin-bags.us@#$%&/]hermes handbags[/url], Exxel says,[url=http://www.ferragamo-shoes-outlet@#$%&/]salvatore ferragamo[/url], are being brought in under a loophole Aderholt says needs to be closed.
"It is very important that sleeping bags be removed from eligibility for duty free treatment,[url=http://www.sunglasses-raybans@#$%&/]@#$%& outlet[/url]," Aderholt said in a statement. "This will keep jobs in America and make sure that companies like Exxel Outdoors are able to operate on an even playing field with international industries who aren't subject to the same taxes."
The loophole is that sleeping bags aren't considered textile products under the international trade convention that governs in this case. That convention prohibits the importation of textiles to the United States without the payment of tariff. It doesn't prohibit sleeping bags,[url=http://www.nikeair-max.fr/]air max one[/url], which Aderholt and Exxel want treated just like any other product made with fabric,[url=http://www.bottes-uggpascher.fr/]ugg @#$%&[/url], fiber and zippered closing devices.
Under the bill,[url=http://www.toms-outlets.us/]tom shoes[/url], foreign sleeping bag makers would pay a tariff upon importing the goods into the United States,[url=http://www.p90x-workout.org/]p90x workout schedule[/url], a fee designed to equalize their product input costs with the product input cost paid by domestic manufacturers. Exxel employs 65 people in Haleyville making two million sleeping bags a year. The imports have put growth and hiring plans on hold,[url=http://www.poloralph-lauren-outlet@#$%&/]polo outlet[/url], the company has said.
