Long awaited rehabilitation works have commenced on the East Bank Berbice Public Road andWorks commenced on the East Bank Berbice Public Roadresidents have already started to feel a sense of comfort.The work is being executed by H. The cost of the contract is in the vicinity of $393 miilion.The awarding of the contract followed open bidding with Nauth winning from eight other competitors.The East Bank Berbice road stretches for 25 miles from New Amsterdam to Mara. Rehabilitation of the road is to be done in sections with the front half from New Amsterdam to Everton to be undertaken from funds provided by the Inter American Development Bank.During the week the H. Nauth Construction Company met with some stakeholders in the East Bank Berbice area to brief them about the work being undertaken in that 12-kilometer stretch of road.The East Bank Berbice road has been in a deplorable state for close to two decades.  Before now residents had expressed ignorance as to awarding of the contracts. The new approach that the Company is taking is to engage the beneficiaries in the community that they operate and briefing them on what is taking place.Residents expressed delight with the approach of the company and pledged their full support throughout the four-month duration of the project.
