Thank you Annemie!

Well, I don't think I will actually win, but the nomination is good enough for me ;-)

No luck this time, unfortunately...

Nik, how is Draconia coming along?

Hi Annemie,

Well, I actually didn't expect to win. The nomination was good enough for me.
Draconia is a bit side-tracked now, because I am writing a classical opera, which will be performed in July next year.... A lot of work. I have completed about 3/4 of the compositions and soon will start orchestrating. Immediately after I am ready, I will continue with Draconia...

Best regards:

Nik

Hi Nik,

I'm very interested to hear about this classical opera. Will it become a recording that will be available for your fans? When and where will the performance take place? And will you be involved in it e.g. to decide who will be the performers?

Kind regards,
Annemie

Hi Annemie,

The classical opera is based on the life and work of a local artist, who was musinderstood and not recognized while alive. His name was Joel Pettersson.
He received the first recognition a couple of years after his death and now is regarded as one of the bigest local artists ever (I mean Aaland - the islands I live on).

I am writing for nine soloists, 32 piece symphonic orchestra and 30 piece choir.
The opera is abot 2 hours long. I was commissioned to compose the opera, so I will not be a part of the recordings or the casting. Please note - this is strictly a classical opera and has nothing to do with rock music ;-).

The premiere is scheduled for July 24th 2009 in Mariehamn and there will be nine shows to begin with. There might be a recording, but it is still too early to say. The city of Mariehamn is building the opera house as we speak... ;-)

Stay well:

Nik

Hi Nik,

Great! Sounds like the perfect reason to visit Aland!
I wish you lots of inspiration.

See you next year.

Annemie
