A code of Ethics is in the making for Councillors at the Mayor and City Council of Georgetown. The crafting of a Code of Ethics is in keeping with internationally accepted standards.It is the norm for professional bodies to set guidelines that would help them strive for excellence. King noted that the purpose of the Code of Ethics is to provide guidance and set common ethical standards to be adhered to on a consistent basis. It is anticipated that the Code of Ethics would govern the actions, working relationships and set a standard of excellence for Councillors.The Officer Core of the Council would be crafting a similar document for Senior Officers.
