Changes at Raleigh Park
Laundry costs a lot for the quality, cleaning is inconsistent some weeks I can't tell what has been done in our kitchen when the cleaners have been also they havent emptied our bins on occasions when they havent been nearly full. The quality of the kitchens arent great for what we are paying we've had continued problems with our fridge/freezer and have just been told it is our responsibility to make sure that it is defrosted when the reason it becomes clogged with ice is due to the seal being broken.
I really think it's important that we have better recycling facilities, especially for cans I mean, tory burch miller, students drink a lot of beer. Also it would be nice to have a full size bin in our living space to use for recycling, in my flat we've found the green bags aren't big enough or very practical. I definitely agree that laundry is expensive, and that we should all have access to the JCR. I also think the intercom system in its current incarnation is pointless, michael kors bag, there doesn't seem to be a reason for it not to be possible to buzz someone in, we've resorted to just throwing our keys out the window to people. Also, celine bag, though I know this isn't a priority or something that can be fixed that easily, the layout of our rooms is really inefficient whose idea was it to put a wardrobe right in the centre?
I completely agree with all of the above!!! Maintenance are very slow to address problems: our shower has been broken many times and we had to wait up to a week for it to be fixed,tomsshoes@#$%&, six people using one shower is pretty ridiculous. The laundry costs are awful and so many times i have had washes i have paid for that didnt wash and dryers that just dont dry. I dont know why it is so hard for the dryers to be fixed?!
i completely agree with fobs too but I also feel that you cant have locks on the doors into blocks if virtually all the buzzer systems dont actually work; its crazy!,
Laundry is very overpriced for a service that is never perfect. The dryers never work, leaving clothes soggy and wet. And I am paying for this!
Fobs living in roddice the events that are posted about the JCR are pointless, and it's very frustrating to feel as though we're not a part of Raleigh park.
I would also like to add that maybe smoking shelters could be put up? It's annoying when you have to stand in the pouring rain without even a little bit of a ledge to stand under. This means that you're nearly always going to have money left on your card at the end of the year as washing costs 3.60 (including drying). Just another money grabbing scheme! We are students, we can't afford to be giving our money away! I am also very annoyed that most of the dryers don't work and have been frustrated on many occasions that my washing has come out wet. I understand that you can get your money back from this but there should be 'out of order' signs on the washers and dryers if they aren't working. The laundry is far too expensive and is just a way of making profit from students! I also feel that the maintenance staff could be more helpful and make repairs within 24 hours of reporting it, instead of just ignoring the claims. We had to wait about 3 days without a fridge, 5 days without a bedroom heater in the winter, 2 days without light in the hallway and bathroom, many months without a light cover in the kitchen, and had to ring the gas company ourselves for a suspected gas leak absolute joke! Furthermore, I feel that the cleaners should be made aware of their duties as they have often refused to clean out flat due to some washing up on one of the kitchen counters this does not stop them from cleaning the bathroom! Our flat would rather pay less rent and clean the flat ourselves (we could probably do a better job anyway!) I would also like the car parking price reduced as I am paying 100 a term for access to park in Sillitoe when people are parking in Madison for free? How is this fair? I would happily pay the 100 if i knew the car park was completely secure but anyone can wonder in. However I would like to praise the reception staff and security who have always been very helpful and polite with any issues that are raised.
I live in Sillitoe Court and it's endlessly irritating having to let other Raleigh people in the gate. I get that it's for security for the JCR but they should get key fobs to get in too so they can use it. Also, cheap @#$%& air max, the JCR should stay open longer, and if someone could do something about the fire alarm in there? It seems to go off at least once or twice a week.
It would be great if the intercom buzzers actually worked being on the top floor with no lift,@#$%&, it's not a lot of fun running up and down the stairs to let people in.
I wholeheartedly back these suggestions.
Paying 3.60 for one wash including using the dryer is not only in general overpriced, as one load of laundry creates costs of electricity and water of around 1, but especially if
a) Raleigh Park advertises with "All Bills Included" b) washing at other student halls is around 2 or less
c) Circuit Laundry provides zero customer service
d) Rumor even has it that at other universities students can wash for free, sac burberry.
Further improvements could be made regarding the wifi which improved from the beginning of the year but still sometimes is shaky. Moreover, studentcom is not the most competent provider but I assume there should be others available.
Lastly, beats electronics, I agree with the other commentators suggestions that recycling opportunities should be increased.
It's about time. I tried to get into the focus groups a few times, I was turned away. The 1st day I moved in it has been bad, uggaustralia, and I've been here for 2 years. Laundry is ridiculous; I wash every week by hand. Cleaners are bad; its more messy when they come. Intercom system is a joke; I have to go all the way downstairs from the top floor to open the door for random people sometimes. They do not care about the repairs until you have pestered them several times; I have been looked in the toilet before fearing that if I was forced to break the door down I would lose my deposit. In the 1st term after moving in the vacuum nossle was broken for the entire term so the cleaners didn't even bother cleaning. Even when I had no choice to return and so booked the same room as I needed to store my stuff I was told that that offer no longer applied (my block only) so i asked if i could move rooms, they said not without 50 admin fee. I have been living in rented accommodation since the age of 16 just outside of London, the rent was cheaper, the room was bigger,www.juicycouture@#$%&, the washing machine was free. But there have been a couple positives here: easy to meet others, good parties, next to lidl, amazing senior tutor and some understanding staff, and a roof over my head. In the end I've gotten used to it here though.
