President Donald Ramotar on Saturday announced that the period of prorogation will not continue. He said that he is not willing to allow the National Assembly to get on with ?business as usual.?  At a press conference he hosted at State House, the President noted that instead of reconvening parliament and allow the debating of a No-Confidence Motion brought against him and his government, he will go to the polls next year.The President said that he will announce a date for the elections early in the new year.
