A bigger trash can is just too much
Judy Bazar, Henderson
Wednesday, Nov.
In regards to Joe Schoenmann's article last week on Republic Services trash pickup and recycling: We have lived in Henderson for 10 years now. We got our three recycling bins at the beginning and have used them all the time. We have a 30 gallon trash can, which is just right for us. We use a plastic trash bag in the can. We don't need or want two big trash cans.
If we are forced to use these large cans, asics, I feel we are being punished for recycling these past 10 years. Everyone should have a choice.

The bins are dreadful. Too small to hold much, sac louis @#$%&, yet to heavy to move when full because they don have wheels. They don have lids, so trash blows out of them and your neighbors get to see all the intersting things you consuming.
Having two sizes of cans makes sense, but Republic definitely needs to ditch those awful bins.

I recycle and I all for using the new 96 gallon recycling containers. All Republic needs to do is give us one for free and keep the existing contract in place. They tout an increase in recycling from 3% (across the entire county) to 30 percent within the confines of their volunteer test area. Wow,moncler jackets, 97 out of 100 homeowner were too lazy to use their recycling bins! I guess Republic didn under stand this concept when they started issuing recycling bins? I lived in communities like Chesterfield, MO (populations of 45,michael kors handbags,000 or more) with only recycling bins available and the recycling rates were more than 30%. Why is that? It because increasing recycling isn as much as about the container as it is about education. Education of the population both about the need to recycle and education levels in general.
Republic will make a very significant amount of money just from all the recycled metals they collect and by reducing their number of truck trips from 5 to 4 every two weeks. Then with the new containers they can cut manpower by from two people per recycling truck to one by using better automation. With all trash pickups cut from five to four every two weeks they will reduce their truck maintenance and operating expenses by 20 percent. They may even reduce the number of garbage truck trips to the dump. When it not about the money you can bet it is about the money. Under their new plan, Republic benefits nine ways from Sunday while the consumer not only gets short changed on their existing contract. Republic customers get to pick up the entire tab while Republic makes a greater profit year after year. Flag
This is all you have to worry about?. Sheesh!Louis Nov,michael kors. Flag
I live in a senior gated community where most people recycle, lululemon canada, except me. I live at the north end of the community and for five and a half years every two weeks when the wind blows all my neighbors recycling goods end up in my yard because my HOA won approve the 96 gallon recycling container. They don bother to cover or bag there items on windy days and when it ends up in my yard it goes in the garbage which means their effort was all in vain. So is it about concern for the environment or about our right to do as we please without concern for your neighbor? So I definitely for the recycling containers.
