97 lincoln town car,Hermes Handbags
I have a '97 lincoln town car with the rear air suspension. The "check rear suspension" light came on and my air ride dumped the bags and wouldn't fill up. Once the bags are empty they don't fill up unless I restart the car several times. This morning the bags were full while the car was parked in my driveway, I drove 1 block and they were completely empty. I restarted the car and let the pump run (about 3 min) and the bags wouldn't air up. Eventually the pump shuts off and "check rear suspension" comes on. I did this for 3 weeks,Hermes Belts, no issues but problem not fixedI took the car to a mechanic and he replaced the leveler sensor. Later I replaced the suspension control module. Both parts were used and neither fixed the problem. Any recommendation
The reason I asked is based on the description you have here and from past experience with these vehicles i believe you now have 2 problems. As they dry rot they start cracking at the bottom of the bag. As long as the cracks are still inside the folded area they will hold air ok. As soon as you start driving and you hit a bump which extends the suspension travel, the bag unfolds and the air in the bag escapes and the rear drops. Now over time the compressor has to run a lot more and longer than normal and it starts to wear out then it gets weak and has a difficult time picking the car back up. It has to be able to put out at least 97 PSI to pick the back of this vehicle up in a normal amount of time. Now the compressor has a timer on it to keep from overheating if it can not pick this vehicle up in 90 seconds it will shut down and turn on the light.
So to make a long story short jack the rear of the vehicle up so the very bottom of the bags are exposed and inspect for cracks in the bag. If you have them then the bags will need to be replaced. You can do a temporay fix with some silcone rubber in the tube,Cheap Polo Shirts, just wipe a good layer over the cracks and let it dry and this will work for a while.
The compressor will need to be replaced if it can not put out more than 97 PSI.
When I initially took the car to a mechanic about 6 weeks ago he inpstected the airbags and found a leak in one and I replaced it, He also smoked out the lines for leaks and didnt find anything except for the airbag that has been replaced.
I know the system isn leaking and the compressor is working. The main thing that happens is sometimes I start the car and the airbags empty without even driving the car and they won refill. If the bags don empty when I start the car and run it for a few minutes than it will be fine the entire time I drive it until I turn it off and restart it, then it a crap shoot if the bags stay inflated or get dumped. As I said once dumped I have to keep restarting the car to try to refill the bags. I did if 4 times in row yesterday and the rear end didn move a millimeter. On the 5 th time I restarted the car the back end aired completely up (about 4") in the 90 seconds. I then shut the car off and pulled out the relay. With the relay out the car will stay aired up and does not dump. I have been driving like this for about a month but it only away to go around the problem and not a fix. Any other suggestions?
I would have to say that you have either a bad compressor(very low output) or the vent solenoid is sticking which is part of the compressor.
See the way this system works is you have a solenoid on the bag. It has to open before bag can deflate or pump up,Hermes Wallet. If solenoid is not open then vehicle will not leak down unless there is a leak in the bag or the orings around the solenoid,Discount Hermes Bags. You can have the line to it cut almost in to and it will not leak down until the solenoid opens,Ralph Lauren Polo. The reason I mention this is because this tells me that the height sensor is not sending false information,Polo Outlet.
It tells me that it was trying to raise the vehicle and for some reason it could not. Now the only thing that would cause this is low output from compressor or the vent solenoid is stuck. Both are part of compressor so I would have to say you need another compressor.
Well let me explain it another way. See the solenoid is a gate at the bag opening,Ralph Lauren Polo Outlet. The height sensor is a bubble level,Hermes Birkin Bag. Ok when the computer looks at the height sensor if it sees the bubble to the left it says vehicle is low I need to raise the vehicle or if bubble is to the right it will say vehicle is high I need to lower it,Hermes Online sale.
Now as I said before the solenoid is a gate to the bag in order for the vehicle to raise the pressure on the compressor side of the gate has to exceed the pressure on the bag side of the gate. Now the whole key here was you said the compressor was running and vehicle dropped. That tells you that it was not putting out enough pressure to overcome the pressure that was in the bag or the pressure from the pump took and alternate route(the vent solenoid was open and it went the wrong direction).
AlvinC answered a question about my Ford truck that only someone with an in depth knowledge of his subject would have known what was going on.
Rich DBecause of your expertise, you armed me with enough ammunition to win the battle with the dealer. They are installing a fuel filter and fuel pump at no charge to me. Thanks again to your service.
Jason V. Thanks, and be sure that I'll be back whenever I need a question answered in a hurry.
